About the Instructors:

Melon Wedick received a BA in theatre (and philosophy!) at Oberlin College, and apprenticed in set design at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts (London, UK). She studied Shakespeare performance with Paul Moser and Hal Ryder, and was a founding member of the Certain Players (Randolph, VT) and founding co-director of the Greenville Shakespeare Festival (Greenville, NH). She has performed with the Certain Players, Greenville Shakespeare Festival (NH), Black River Theatre Company, Shakespeare NYC, and the Montford Park Players, among others; taught with the Certain Players, Greenville Shakespeare Festival, The Magnetic Theatre, and the Montford Moppets; and directed productions of Hamlet, Measure for Measure, Coriolanus, Julius Caesar, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. As founder and artistic director of Nemesis, Melon believes passionately in staging productions of Shakespeare’s works that are artistically adventurous and easily accessible.

Christine Hellman is a performer, playwright, and Lucid Body teacher based in Asheville. She studied acting at the New York Academy for Dramatic Arts and has continued to train over her career with many amazing mentors. Through the scope of consent-based practices and physical storytelling, Christine guides actors to find physical and emotional depths of intimacy on stage in a sustainable and non-harming way. Developing tools for the actor to safely step in and out of deep work is at the core of her practice. Her intimacy and consent-forward work began in 2018 when she introduced these practices and The Chicago Theatre Standards to Trustus Theatre in Columbia, SC. While living in New York, Christine continued intimacy training with IDI and The Lucid Body Institute. She continues to work with Trustus and has now folded in this work at Workshop Theatre, also located in Columbia. Recent intimacy coaching credits include The Mad Ones, Hurricane Diane, Torch Song, Kinky Boots, The Color Purple, Intimate Apparel, The Cost of Living, and The Great Gatsby. Recent acting credits include: Hurricane Diane (Carol), Midsummer For Haters (Helena), Obstructure (Ensemble), Sweat (Jessie), Barbecue (Barbara), The Flick (Rose), Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (Mrs. Shears, voice 1), MIsery is Optional (Voice 2), Some Girls (Bobbi), Don’t Dress for Dinner (Suzette), String of Pearls (Amy, others), Romeo and Juliet (Juliet).
